Remembering Virginia Tech

by LaraH | Posted in Stories we like

golf.jpgJust last week was the first anniversary of the Virginia Tech campus tragedy. I heard many news reports about the outpouring of support the victim’s families had received. I also saw a story of one student’s legacy in our Gallery.

Creating for Kid Readers

runnybabbit.jpgSome of the most copied books in the gallery are amateur publishing efforts by parents writing a story for their child. Several examples I’ve already seen being copied by others include the stuffed animal as adventurer story (i.e. “Runny Babbit” by NinjaLlama) and the prophetic profession book (i.e. “When I Grow Up” by JessiW).

before_you_born_final.jpgA couple of books have inspired me as fun and creative ways to remember a pregnancy. LA_Mommy712 “Before You Were Born” is the story of Jack’s parents’ courtship and life together before he was conceived, as well as the travels and experiences he had the 9 months before his debut.

BarbaraB362’s “Bryan and Sarah’s Wedding Day in Hawaii” features many typical shots except the photographer regularly tilts the camera to the side, creating a unique memory.

mother_day_tribute_final.jpgWith Mother’s Day just a month away, a common photo book option is a tribute book. KimW414’s “Mother’s Day 2007” is one example of this type of book. She and her sister collaborated on this book and in their description talks about how they also gave a version of it to their grandmother as well.

School Cookbook

2nd_grade_cooks_final.jpgAnother great project idea to help remember a school year is a class cookbook. Jdo’s “2A Class Cookbook 2008” was created for a school auction and is a great example of how to do it. She uses some of our recipe photo book layouts to list the ingredients and cooking instructions
