Transformations are always exciting to watch, whatever the theme may be. It could be about remodeling a house, or planting a garden, or cleaning up a city park, or losing those 20 pounds, or changing from your jeans to your bridal dress. What’s inspiring is the change.
Take a look at ‘ Beach ‘n River Inn‘. From the first page I’m hooked because the “before” picture is so dramatic. We’ve got collapsed shutters, severely damaged siding, bare grounds. How could this possibly turn into a decent living space? Then I turn the page and see signs of paradise. Outdoor redwood staircase , nice looking deck, greenery, hard wood floors. This is looking good. As I continue through the book I see lots of before and after images, room by room, and am amazed that these people have been able to turn something so damaged into something so beautiful.
‘ Home stylist portfolio‘ is also great fun, because the transformations are singificant, but the process doesn’t appear to be overwhelming. I see tired looking rooms turn into magazine-worthy living spaces. And no hammering was involved. Just a few plants, a furniture adjustment, and a lick of paint. Amazing changes with little hard labor. That’s my kind of transformation.
Finally, we have ‘ Sam’s Wedding Album‘. To me, the most captivating pages in this book are the before and after images…from the girl in curlers to stunning bride.

This was another great article and I enjoyed both of these books. Loved the house transformations and the before and afters. Really shows all the work that was put into that. My parents have fixed up houses and I always tell them that they should take before and after pictures because the end results are amazing. They are too busy to do that and since I’d be the only one who would do it, I never get the opportunity. They always say ‘you should have seen what it looked like before’ to other people. They say they don’t like to be reminded of all the work they put into them!
I love befores and afters of homes, or of brides getting all fixed up as featured in Sam’s Wedding Book.
Great article.

I think it is a giving for a good book. Before and afters are universal theme and anyone can to or relate to. Though out the years I have taken those pictures of our home projects and they are fun to look back on.

Before and after is a great theme. It was a great idea to show the bride getting ready and then dancing as a beautiful Mrs.! I’m going to look at the full book now!

Before and after… and you mentioned weight loss. That could be my new motivation! That is a great theme for a book! Love the idea!
