Your love knows no bounds - but your love story can be professionally bound

nobounds.jpgIt’s true, the holiday season is barely over but at Shutterfly we’re already thinking about what’s next, and I’m not talking about Groundhog Day. Yes, Valentine’s Day is around the corner.  I never cared much about Valentine’s Day until two years ago when, on Valentine’s Day, I went into labor with my second child. That was something to celebrate. My daughter was born the next morning which was great because no one wants their birthday overshadowed by a holiday. And, she can always get teddy bears, chocolate and flowers for her birthday at deep discounts. That’s my Valentine’s Day story.

This Valentine’s Day is my deadline to complete my wedding photo book as a gift for my husband (and myself). It took me six years but I finally sent my wedding negatives to ScanCafe to have them burned onto a DVD. Until now I’ve just had three giant albums with all of the 4×6 proofs but no one ever looks at them because there are more than 600 pictures.  So I browsed through the Shutterfly Community Gallery and found an example of a wedding photo book that I loved and I MOLTED it. Yes, I stole it. I said, I want mine to be like this one, I pressed the button and the little Shutterflies in my computer made an exact replicate of the layout with spaces for me to fill in my own pics. How’s that for time saving. Now all I have to do is choose my favorites (seventy images to be exact) or I can make changes—add a few, take out a few. It’s up to me.

Here’s the one I like: it’s Santa Barbara Wedding by Nicole422. It captures all of the iconic wedding details like the dress and the cake and the heirloom hanky and the emotions felt by everyone on that special day. Thank you, Nicole, for doing the legwork for me. It will save me time and since I also have to plan my daughter’s second birthday the day after Valentine’s Day, I’m all about the shortcuts.

I worked hard on my wedding album last year and I am already to revise it. I love the new photo journalistic style of wedding albums now days. Most of my photos are so posed, not very natural. But I am going in and work some cropping magic on those pics to see if I can come up with something close to how elegant this book is.

I’m dying to try scan cafe! And I haven’t copied a book like that. This is a great article for new comers too… it would make their first book a little less overwhelming! Ok, now I actually have to go view your inspiration book and can’t wait to see your finished product! Have fun!

Wow, her book got 127 copies. Thats impressive. I really liked this book and enjoyed viewing it again. I can’t wait to see your finished product. it’ll be magnificent!! My sisters wedding photos were all in a box up in her closet, so I asked if I could take them, scan them in. and make them into a photobook for her. (This was before Scan Cafe) I was actually looking for a wedding album that I could just insert the pictures in, but they were all the scrapbook kind. So I did their photobook, it was rather simple. No unique photos like the photographers today take. But they enjoyed having all their pictures in one album instead of a box.
    Have fun with your book!

This is a great article. I have completed 3 wedding books (technically four- one wedding was two books) for my aunt to give to her children for Christmas this year. They all loved it and all made sure to thank me for doing all of the work when then seen me on Christmas day after opening those books up. It really touched them and if I have to say so myself I did a ton of work to complete them. My aunt wanted every picture included so each book was 100pages. Thankfully two of the three weddings were digital, the other I scanned it. I wish I would have thought to use Scan Cafe. I bet I remember now. LOL, really these books are so special and will forever hold a place in their hearts.
