It is so great that family's can keep their memories at hand with a photo book, but to have a photo book inspire and enlighten is so special. Sister Pauline can show all what her program can do with pictures in a wonderful book. It really rings true that a picture is a 1000 words.

Sister Pauline, thank you for sharing this inspiring article. You are an amazing person and my heart goes out to you. I too, love the Gallery for this exact reason, you get to see peoples lives - peoples stories. We all have stories and everyone can learn from them or be given hope during their darkest days. I'm so grateful these books give you hope - they do for me as well. I find doing books and looking through the Gallery to be my passion.
Thank you for sharing your story. May we all be better people because of you.

Love the holiday traditions that everyone has shared. I'll have to view the book mentioned above as well. When we were growing up my parents would have my mom's side of the family over - all their kids. It was usually around 22 people. My parents set up this huge table in the living room that my dad put together. The kids sat in the corner, or most of us did. Then as the cousins started bringing their girlfriends over, we were a FULL house. We quit that tradion many years ago and would usually just have the grandparents. Now its just my parents and us grown up kids and grandkids. My parents cook a HUGE feast and we just enjoy each others company. I'll be taking lots of photos over the holidays. Christmas eve we gather at my parents, bake cookies, bread other goodies. As kids we used to go look for Santa - that was always a fun tradition. Great memories!!

Wow, love all the traditions mentioned above. We do a lot of small things around the holidays, gingerbread house, cooking baked goods and packing them up and giving them to family and friends. We always fix a feast for New Years Eve and ring the New Year in with goodies. Our biggest tradition is a family vacation every year, usually somewhere different but we have created lots of family memories that my kids talk about all the time. Thanks for a great article.

Although in KY we get snow, nothing like what I see in some of the books. I love looking at all the indoor and outdoor activity in a book, makes it a better overall book if you can fit it all in. Thanks for a great article.

Wow, Sister Pauline is an amazing woman and she has such a powerful message. It's so refreshing to see an inspiring story such as this; it's the reason I love the gallery so much! There are so many heart-warming stories and messages that I would never know about were it not for Shutterfly. Thank you for continually reminding me that our stories matter and can change someone's life.

My heart aches for a snow covered Christmas morning, I live in Texas and, well, it doesn't usually snow on the surface of the sun :) I lived in Nebraska for 7 years and it was so fun when it snowed. I loved every snow flake!! Every year I am overcome with my sentimental feelings about snow and Christmas. So because there is no snow I find myself looking for the magic..........it's every where. This year I have an idea for a wonderful book just for me and I can not wait to start my snapping. I already have the stories lined up, just need the snaps now. I have also find magic in all the gallery photobooks. Like my favorite right now is 'Christmas 2007' by CharityD, it's a wonderful book with snow and all the stuff that goes with it. It was featured a while back but I still love it.

We did not have traditions when I was young, my Mom just was never big into repeating things, not sure why. I have worked hard on that for my sons, who are grown now. They have their own ornaments bought one a year at Hallmark. We eat chili on Christmas eve and drink hot chocolate Christmas morning. We cook cookies, make candy and bag them the same every year. They loved that. I can hear my youngest son saying to his friends "oh yea, we do that every year". It was important to him and I will never regret giving him that foundation of tradition to build on.
And now, like Ann said, I have photobooks. I've always been the snap queen, sending pictures to everyone after the holidays because I knew they didn't take any snaps. Now I can send photobooks and I know without a doubt they will love them.
